235/40R18 for the closest diameter to stock and a wide footprint
225/45R18 if you're worried about rubbing and are not going to touch your fenders

235/40R is the correct size, though (assuming type-s)

I seriously doubt you will rub with the width and offset you described. I agree with 235/40 18

ha.. i rubbed on minor bumps.. and so i had to cut the fender and tabs (lowered on h&r w/ 1.5deg camber as well, same size wheels)

I figured by going 17 to 18 I would experience some rubbing. I just got my TLS and havent even received my plates yet. So I wanted to get the rims first then figure out how much drop I would need after the rims. 1.5 is what I was hoping to go to but I guess either way, i would get rub-age.

its easy to fix rubbing. I have 235 40 18s on my 01. It had 205 16s stock
check tirerack.com for what tires will safely fit on what rim width

Most drops by switching to coilover -adjustable height shocks like tein, are 1.5 minimum, unless you are just doing some aftermarket springs- you can get them with about 1 inch drop

Going from a 17 to a 18 or even 19 for that fact shouldnt cause rubbing. Wrong wheel width and offset will.

i'm runing 225-40-18 right now, but when i need new tires, i'm getting 235-40-18 for a wider stance and feel.

unless you're slammed, you shouldn't have rubbing issues. but then again it all depends on your suspension too.
