Question Best coilover, springs, shocks combo???

So I'm looking into redo my suspensions for my '03 TL-S. I heard many good things about the tein coilovers. But I'm not really sure on the springs and shocks. Should I go with Tein for those too? It seems as if Tein is pretty popular and for the look of the prices on their items, that they are very high quality. Just lookin for some opinions from those who already had their whole suspension redone. Thanks.

Function & Form Type-I coilovers ftw.

cheap. works great for aesthetics.

performance wise.. going spring/shocks (Koni Shocks + H&R springs or custom spring rated Ground Controls) are your best choice.

There's also the few like AMR or Zeal coilovers

Actually, Teins are not high quality. Do your research, and not just the "reviews" of members AZ members. Tein products aren't worth the price you'll pay for them. If you want the best performance, go coils all the way. Period. If you want looks, you can do either cheap coils, or a strut/spring combo. There are a number of those.

i don't really have a budget. and i'm looking for more performance rather then aesthetics. not looking to slam either because i'd probably have to roll my fenders for that and plus just don't really like the really low look where the fender covers half of my wheel.

basically, i just want good performance suspensions for the '03 TL-S that i have. and the brand or make of all the parts that i would need to get to have good performance suspensions.

If money were no object, i'd go with Bilsteins with H&R OE Sport. I'm not quite a fan of a slammed daily driver.

What makes the Koni SP3 and the H&R sports so good compared to the other shocks and springs?

I honestly don't think you can go wrong with Bilstein or Koni for struts. I have a limited experience with H&R but I will say that i have broken a few Eibach springs in my lifetime.

so i was looking at the koni shocks and there are 2 kinds i found.

the first ones are koni sports:

http://store.excelerateperformance.c.../i-105379.aspx

and the other ones were the neuspeed sp3's:

http://store.excelerateperformance.c...s/g-59424.aspx

i tried to compare them and couldn't find much of a difference. so what IS the difference?

The difference is that the SP3 has 5 adjustable perches for spring height. The standard koni has 1. The SP3 is designed to run lowered better if i remember right.

Performance based on different setups I've tried: (autoX, circuit racing, time attack)

Bilstein sports on H&R Race - Smooth, take alot of abuse.
Bilstein sports on Neuspeed Race - Very similar to the H&R setup just a little lower.
Bilstein sports on Ground Controls - My favorite, a little on the stiff side but that's how I like it, no homo. Handles very well and pushed to it's limit it gave great response.

Next setup will be Koni SP3 shocks with custom rates GC's or I will just have my Bilsteins rebuilt.
Haven't tried any coilover setups besides TEIN SS...all I can say is HAHA for those.

I have had FF on my civic and I track on that car as well. They were great but bottomed out ALOT.

i've seen few selling in japan here and there.. CP3 is for 8th accord...

for what they cost.. i'd rather go with bilstein/koni setup with H&R or ground controls or neuspeed

Any springs out there for the 2002-2003 like the H&R OE ? I really don't want alot of drop. I'm already running Koni's on the lower perch.

why not just get the H&R sports and run on the stock perch if you dont want a lot of drop. The oes on the lower perch are probably the same drop as OEs on the stock height perch

What is your budget? Have you used the search button? I would suggest starting there and see if you can get your question answered. There is tons of info. And what is a FINE drop??

So the sp3 is kinda like a coilover since you can adjust the height in 5 ways? Also, do you think the regular koni's will still be pretty low with the h&r springs? Any pics? Thanks!

kinda, but you have to remove the spring to adjust the perch height.

I have a 1 finger gap all the way around on the stock height perch with H&R sports. The lower perch is 20mm lower. I honestly would go with the SP3. They are designed to run lower. I wish i would/could have waited to get the SP3 myself.

by one finger gap do you mean like one finger vertically from the ground to the lip? also i don't want my car slammed so i'll get scratches and dents for when i purchase a lipkit and exhaust. if i decide to get the koni sports and not the sp3's, how low will it be? or were you talking about this being the one finger gap?

one finger as in 1 finger fits between the wheel well and tire. its actually closer to 1.5 finger gap.

ive been running HR Sports 50103's and my stock struts since 2004 and about 90K miles and i think my drop looks perfect and still rides very smooth..but i am due for some new struts soon, been kickin that can down the road, but the Koni's are probably the route i'll go..or the Bilsteins..i don't have to adjust the ride height, so coilovers aren't for me

I've been searching and it seems that everyone just picks the one they have, wheather its h&r or eibach. I like the drop of the eibach pro kit, I was wondering should i just get the
Pro-System Kit (Pro-Kit Springs & Pro-Damper Shocks)
4041.780,
or get the pro kit springs with some other shocks? and if so what kind of shocks. like the tokico blues?
what will give me the smoothest ride?
