best all-season tires.
I have some 18" rims that I have to drive on all year long. I need some really good all season tires to be able to handle the michigan snow. I need them to be available in a 225/40/18 size. What do you guys suggest? Thanks in advance.

Good eye, Lawaia... that's what I'm using (for my summer application). I live across the border in Windsor so I won't get screwed in case a freak winter storm comes while I still have my 18"s on.
For my OEM Type-S rims (aka winter rims), I am torn between the Yokohama Avid V4S (all-season) or Toyo Garit HT (dedicated snows), both in 215/50/17. As bad as winters are here ... I might go dedicated snows. Getting a price over at Discount Tire or Belle Tire in the next month or so.

how about a good all-season tire that comes in 225/40/18.....anyone know? Ive had the Toyo's and a set of Nitto's before, but they sucked pretty bad in the snow. I heard conti/yoko and some other companies make some decent tires for all-seasons. Anyone with experience with any of these in the snow? Thanks in advance.

Dunlop SP 5000, they are gd on snow, but very low trendwear
i recommend u get a set of 17"snow and keep a set of 18" summer, that would do better for both ways

There is no such thing as "best" all season tire. Every all season tire is a compromise.
The best snow performance in an all season tire will be the Nokian WR but it may not give you the most grip on the rack in 100 degrees.
The best dry performance all seasons are "barely tolerable" in snow (Pilot Sport A/S, SP5000).
I do know one thing. Do not get the Pilot MXM4 they suck in everything!!!

Hey Hemants ...
But he's talking about 18" applications. Nokian WRs (which I have ...) goes as big as OEM size (215/50/17)... they didn't have them in stock, so I went with 205/50/17. Drove up to Owosso, MI for them. Good people up at the Fire Factory store. Highly recommended.
Based upon the people here, why don't you try the Proxies4 ... tell me if I bought a good tire or not (for winter applications).
Seriously consider getting steel rims for winter or go back to OEM rims (if you still have them). Michigan winters aren't the greatest to get around ...
