2G wheel wells like wrxyboy/Rodney's 3G??

Has anybody ever tried doing something like Rodney and wrxyboy have done on their 3G's to a 2G?

Cut the fenders/quarters and pull them so that a wider wheel can fit without a any camber. We all know that wheel options for the 2G are limited due to the limited space in the wheel wells and I don't like the cambered look with the wheels cocked and stretched to make them fit.

Camber eats the tires and NY roads kill rims with stretched tires. I have had 2 sets of rims with stretched tires smashed by potholes on C-B Expwy on this vehicle alone.

I would like to see a 2G with this type of "pull/mod" on the wheel wells, if it has been done already, so that I can make a decision on whether I want to go this route or not.

Wheels that I would like to run are Gram Lights 19x8.5 +35 (fr) 19x9 +32 (rear) with 235's and 255's

You can run those....but if i recall they "radiused" their fenders, so they added a piece thats more flared, and then they reshaped it so it looks stock again. I think vipTL did it also.

I know that the wheels will fit, but they will rub/poke like crazy without wheel wells being cut/pulled/stretched/flared/radiused.

I was trying to find out if anybody had done it to a 2G.

I forgot that Grape Jelly (vipTL) did this recently. His looks crazy too.

i got 245's on my car all the way around without too much of an issue, only thing though is that that is with a 45 offset and a 18" wheel, anyways look for rondog (owner of ronjon wheels), he has fitted some 255's to the rear of a 2g CL (which are almost exactly the same wheel well as the 2g TL

but the biggest thing i see is that you might be wanting too little offset (if you just want the wheel's width), so just go inwards with the wheel instead

I was more interested in making the offset fit than the tire size. I was under the impression that a 19x8.5 or wider is going to rub and have to be cambered no matter what size tire. Running a lower than 42 offset will rub also on 19x8 or wider.

I am trying to avoid having that cambered look. The 255's are what is on the rear wheels right now, but they can be changed up or down once the offset fits.

then it would be more going for that stretched tire look then (and you have already gone that route) , or running a slightly narrower rim then

and as far as pulling the fenders (or adding an extension in) and what not, any competent body shop should be able to do it without too many issues, but relize you are going to pay a bit to do it though, cause minus the actual pulling, more then likely the quarter panels will have to be painted (along with the doors if they touch them)
it would not surprise me at all if they where to give you an estimate of $1500 to pull the quarter panels

Why would anything need paint? Its just a pull, they heat up the panel and do a slight tug job. You can diy this. There are soooooo many ppl on the 2g side that did this it`s not even funny.

Sure if its just a pull. But some of the work being talked about is more intensive than that and usually requires painting.

Ill be squeezing 255s on for next year over the winter so ill see whats involved soon.

As far as I know, this has not been done on a 2G. I must not have made it clear..... to put it in simple terms..... fold out the inner fender well that would normally be rolled under.... beat the hell out of it with a ball pean hammer to stretch it.... possibly cut and fill if it doesn't stretch enough.... once stretched to where it needs to be, begin the smoothing out process.... then paint like done in post# 98 in this thread

friesm2000.... I was told that the body work would be $1500 and if I had them paint the whole car back WDP it would be $5500 body+paint to get a better than stock finish.

my estimate was dead on

but yes that does sound also about right for a full paintjob too, now you can cut that price some say if you where to get everything disassembled for them, and reassemble it afterwards, but how much it drops off the price depends on how much disassemble you do, and how willing the body shop is to work with you... (so nice being in the auto industry, wholesale prices, and knowing people at body shops )( and it's bad when the parts guys at the dealer know you, and let you have your own wholesale account)

and as said before you can do a slight pull without needing to get it repainted, but as you even said you want more then what is achievable with that method

Looks like you are in NY, swing by the RonJon warehouse and take a look around, We have the perfect fit, and I'm pretty sure you will see something you like. Locals get good deals too.
