I thought tire width didn't affect the size of the contact patch

How could it not? There is more rubber on the road. If that were the case The ZR1 wouldnt need a 335/25-20 on the rear and could get away with a 205 to save weight. A tire 10" wide has more surface area on the ground than a tire with 5"

Just something I read a while ago. Apparently a wider tire means a wider but shorter contact patch. There are still benefits to having a wider tire, but the size of the patch stays the same. Could be wrong. I'll try to find the article.

First read this on a different article, but here's one that provides some insight. Been reading a bunch of other stuff on the topic, but they're mostly forum debates. I can link those if you're interested.
Check this out:
http://performancesimulations.com/fa...on-tires-1.htm
Juicy stuff: contact patch area = weight/tire pressure.
Width obviously affects the shape of the contact patch, and a wider tire is probably better for performance driving or when under extreme load which makes sense if you think about it.

Looks good. Will you be doing a lot of driving on these particular tires, or are they strictly for test-fitting?

I need to find somber with a fender roller just incase. I have done it with baseball bats but I like the rollers. I can do a little stretch with them too.
Wonder if I can get 275s on it
