I think you could lower like about 1" without rubbing issue. Lower any more than 1" and less than 2" will rub with passenger at the back. If that is the case, just cut the tap and you should be fine. I currently have 235/35/19 on 7.5" wide rim with no finger gap with cut tap and fender. IMO, 225/35/19 is better fit, but it might be too thin and if you are not driving careful will result bend rim. 235/35/19 is little beefier and protect the rim little better.
