Question 225/50/17

Would 225/50/17 tires fit on a stock TL-S wheel?

With a rolling diameter increase of 1.3" compared to stock I'm not sure why anyone would want this size on their car.

My reasoning would be to get more rubber between me and the road for some more ride comfort without going down to smaller 16" rims (due to looks and $$$). It would be cheaper to get 4 larger tires than buy rims/tires and I like the look of the stock 17's.

So that answers the "why". Can someone answer the "will it work?"

why not just stay w/ stock tire size? but yes they will fit.

going to 55 series will make the sidewall taller and u could be prone to rubbing and ur speedo may be off and gas mileage affected.

ride comfort is a combo of ur tires and susp set up.

Im more concerned of rubbing. Anyone know of this with this tire setup? (either tried it or know someone who has?)

The roads here are chewed up thanks to studed snow tires in the winter.
I know there will be a 5% decrease in speedo readout.

Im trying to get more rubber between me and the road and insulate these bumps.
Im looking at getting the new Goodyear Comfortreads in 225/55/17 since they are a very quiet tire.
I know Ill be losing performance - I dont care. And I am not going down to a 16" rim - too much $$ and I like the way the stock 17's look on our cars.

Just go out and get them if you know of the consequences and are willing to accept them. Personally I would opt for 225/50's instead.

need feedback

Hi. This thread looks related to me so diidn't want to start a new one even though this one is old))) I want to do same as @spl1011 did..i want get 225/55/R17 on my tsx 2010. I have same reason...i want add more riding comfort! I bought tsx recently...decided to try japanese car after driving vw models for 13 years!! And noise confort is a bit not that good as on vw!! So i want to add some rubber between rim and road so less roughness from road would get to steering whell and car body! I don't if spl1011 still on this forum but may be he can share his experience?? Thanks
