Question 03' TL-S 130,000 Miles NEW SUSPENSION QUESTIONS!

Hi all,

I need some help...

03' TL-S 130,000 miles...and fairly ignorant to all things suspension up until recently.

After doing much research, I purchased Tokico HP's, H&R OE Sport Springs, New Upper Control Arms (with ball joints installed) and new Lower Ball Joints individually. As we'll, I am considering purchasing new lower control arms with bushings.

One question I have is about the strut boots/mounts. Will the stock ones work ok with the new Tokico's I am installing? Or do I need to purchase the Tokico strut boot/mount kit that is out there.

I really want to get as much replaced now while my mechanic is in there to make the car like new again. I recently had the transmission rebuilt, and I have decided to keep the car so this is the next project.

If all you experts here can provide your opinions, this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

you might as well get new top hats.

if your dust boot isn't ripped or torn, you could reuse those.

you could even do this while you're at it

to my understanding, he has to drill them out due to him having koni shocks and koni shocks have thicker shafts....

when you get them, you could probably do a quick test fit onto your tokico hp.

Haven't done the install yet. I want to just purchase new strut boots, but I don't know which ones fit with the Tokico HP's or if I need to purchase the ones they make specifically...

I am a complete n00b when it comes to all of this.

For what it's worth, I re-used my boots with the Koni struts. There was a tiny bit of work to be done to make them fit the new struts because of the size difference. I'm not a car guy at all but managed to do it reasonably quickly so I'm sure you're mechanic won't have a problem.

I can't imagine re-using them on Tokico's would be much different?
