haha thats not mine..I've just accumulated these pictures of the type s wheels being painted..it does look good..the SSM but i don't have a body kit...i do have a 2" drop which helps but i'm afraid to fuck my wheels up for good :/ and I've seen so many wheels painted black that just don't have that professional quality about them which is a necessary factor for me

damn going through this thread again makes me really want to paint my wheel triangles gun metal
i always liked the factory rims and thats the perfect touch to make them standout and be more subtle at the same time. thanks a lot for the brilliant idea.

Not a problem man. Just take your time doing it and it will turn out great and you will love it. Ithink i am the first person to do this but maybe not. It really really makes the rims look different on the car

I think they are CL-S wheels.

Hey guys. New to the forum IMHO I like the way the TLS rims look without any paint done, but then again I have a black TL and it may look different on black vs silver. If you were going to paint them, definitely make them look like this...

there are only slight differences usually only noticeable when they are next to each other such as:

TL-S and CL-S both have a flare on the end of each spoke. On the TL-S the flare begins sooner that it does on the CL-S.

The spokes on the CL-S kind of stick out a little bit whereas the spokes on the TL-S are flat.

There is also a lip on the TL-S wheels that the CL-S doesnt have

i was thinking of painting the triangles black but i don't want them to look like l3wds since thats definitely not the look i am going for.

make sure you paint the inside of the wheel also....hide the brake dust better and it will add depth.

wow i cant believe you didn't protect your tires in any way
hopefully they're not too bad.

but the wheels look great dude. i can't wait til i do mine now since this is the first time i've seen them on a lowered car. i'd recommend claying your wheels too just to get them looking perfect and using some tire black next time you detail your car. can't wait for more pics after the detail!

I just bought a 2006 WDP TL with standard wheels and it was from Florida and has pretty new BFG g-Force sport ZR SUMMER tires, they do not go in the snow! I just purchased a set of 04 TL wheels with Michelin A/S tires, I would like to paint them. I was thinking white to match the body, but how would gloss black look, any opinions? These would be for winter.

i think that the stock wheels w.o. any paint work done to em already look great, one of the best stock looking wheels out there IMO.
