01-03 CLS/TLS weight vs. 04-08 TL wheels

I have read many threads about the debate over how much heavier the '04-'08 TL wheels are over the 01-03 and how much slower it will make the car. Well I mean to put that debate to some end. I have 05 wheels on my car and after some minor modifications to the rear drivers side fender there is no rubbing what so ever. The tire on the 05 TL wheel was a ¼” wider than the tire on the 03 CLS wheel. I have both and weighed both. They are relatively the same. FYI. The 03 CLS wheel and tire pictured weighs 47.4lbs and the Dunlop AVS ES100 225/45-17 tire on it has about 65% tread left. You decide. I think the car looks so much better with the 05 TL wheels

The 05 TL wheel & tire pictured weighs 47.85lbs and the Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3 235/45-17 is brand new with more than 95% tread left.

This is where and what I had to do to stop the rubbing on the driver rear wheel.

I cut down the bolt on under the fender behind the small circle and trimmed the screw, bolt, and plastic behind the fender under the large circle.
Before

After

I used a Dremel and I am lowered 2”. I also later ground about a mm off the lip of the fender well and covered it up with touch up paint.
I think the 01-03 TL and the CL look so much better with the 05 TL wheels.

i believe the 06 would have a different weight since the TPMS and the 07-08 came with a different design.

and why is this in the TL section?
