Whine whine whine!!!!
Hey guys new to acura tl world and I've been dealing with this annoying whine/hummm. I've searched and still in same spot.
99 tl 114k on it I have replaced power steering o-ring replaced idler pulley and serpentine belt. The noise honestly has gotten lower. So I pulled off the serpentine belt with power steering belt still connected and I hear nothing. So I guess I can rule out power steering.
Also I have noticed that when I use any power the sound gets louder(ie. turning headlights on, holding brake, turning on signals, and when fan keeps on. Immediately after everything is shut off noise quiets down. There is no amp or sub in car but wires are ran to trunk. My question now is can this be the alternator pulley or alternator itself making noise. Where should I start looking.
Idk if alt. has ever been replaced

Yea I did when I replaced the pulley. I think I'm leaning towards the alternator. Idk I'd they sell replacement pulleys but I have heard ppl say on other forums that their alt. mad whining noise before it died.

a $5 mechanics stethascope will help you find the bad part
Might be alt bearings
Might be ac belt tensioner
Might be timing belt tensioners!
New accessory belt/ac belt?
whine from belts when toast is common
you hear the neighbors car whine and think- geez get some belts would you!
ck those old loose wires!! just to be safe and sure no grounds or hots are left uncapped/secured

Hey what brand of PS fluid are you using? Before I sprouted my leaks in mine I was using some generic brand fluid and it would creak and moan all the time, especially in the colder weathers. It would also "jump" when it was cold as if there were giant air bubbles in the system.
Once I switched to Honda PS fluid the moaning and creaking stopped! At least, until my high-pressure line sprung a leak :P
