When applying gas the rpms go nohigher than two. Car slows to a crawl when cold.
Over the past two weeks I have noticed that my 2003 tl is not responded normally when i step on the gas. Usually I need not apply any serious pressure to the pedal for the car to pick up speed. But recently I have noticed that I have been needing to press harder and harder.
Initially thought it was the trans because I noticed that the rpms would not go above 2 rpms and th ecar would just role at that speed then suddenly the rpms would leap and then return to 2pms.
When I took it to the dealer they took a look at the trans and noted that the shifting was fine, the fuids were at good levels and that there was no signs of trans mission problems.
However, the next day when I woke up and turned the car on and took it on the road I noted that it was harder to increase speed. Finally Todya I was forced to leave the car in my parking lot because it was not picking up speed no matter how hard I stepped on the break.
Here are somethings that I know I have to replace:
Spark Plugs and Engine mounts
Some mistakes that I have been making:
I have been putting medium grade gasoline for over a year as gas prices went up I switched to low grade with the intention of following it up with fuel injector and gas treatment. I never got around to it.
What do you guys think might be the problem? i REALLY NEED HELP on this one.

Sounds like tranny problem to me? Text book case, in fact.
The dealer really said it was fine? Either way, your car is in limp mode now. One of those rpm "leaps" scared the car, so the ECU will protect itself (the engine) by staying in limp mode. It doesn't want to over rev.
I can't think of anything else besides the tranny. It's not a "3x3 fix" either, that thing is beyond salvation.

The dealer said that because when I brought the car in, the engine was warm. The problems are not as noticable when the engine warm and on that day the problems were not even as bad as they were today.

start with a trip to a parts store for free code reading
dealer should have done this and found something to indicate WHY it wont go over 2000
if its really in limp mode you wont get any power out of it
If the car thinks it was over-revved (say from trans slipping) it might go into limp then
or certain critical sensors failure may cause it
But there should be codes!!!
also get to a trans shop and ask for diagnostic
have you felt anything funny with the trans recently,,,slower and harder into 2nd and 3rd gear,,rpm jumps up a little at shifts?
are the correct NGK 8$ each plugs in it- they are just old?
wrong plugs will make for big problems
whats the current mileage?
dealer said front motor mount broken?- that causes a vacuum leak

seafoam thru the gas will clear out the low octane residue, once we figure out the main problem

remove the top plastic cover for the engine
inspect the throttle cable assembly
a cable has been known to come off and jam it, or the side/end plastic can break and allow cable to come off the assembly
rear cable is to gas pedal
front goes to cruise control--ck both
the dealer actually took your car into the shop and inspected it--didnt come back with a diagnosis?? thats unheard of--they want work!
or was it just a service writer came out and looked- didnt hook up any tester etc?

The Spark plugs are old. the milage is over 117000.
Ii hooked up the obdII device and it did not display any codes. I'll follow through with your other advice this evening. Thx.

wow 117 on OE plugs!!
ngk Iridium IX or NGK Iridium are the way to go--8 bucks each average price
a tiny bit of plug anti sieze on the new threads
a small piece of vac line to lower them in and start by fingertip control is safest in my opinion
careful with the coils -treat like grandmas best china!!! fragile worse than glass!!
