Transmission replaced after 2005 fixed problem?
I just want to check with all you Acura geniuses out there, you guys some how know everything.
Okay so, I some how stumbled onto the wikipedia article about the TL. I know it's wikipedia, but this is confusing me now...it says "Transmissions replaced prior to March 2005 usually fail again. Transmissions replaced on 3/2005 and later include a redesigned 3rd gear clutch pack reported to fix the problem." Here, look for your self, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acura_TL
Under 2001, its the last sentence of the first paragraph. I've never heard this and can't find any other info online to support it, but I really want to believe it since I know mine was replaced after 2005.
Does anyone know anything about this "redesigned 3rd gear clutch pack"??

Search the forum, you will see The fix that occurred then made them more reliable but they were/are still prone to fail.

I had mine replaced with a unit after 2005. It lasted less time than the original transmission. 1st transmission made it to just under 100k miles, second transmission made it to under 90,000 miles.

I did try to search but I didn't find much on this topic. Thanks Stephen00TL for the input. Do you do much aggressive driving? or do you try to limit yourself? Because you obviously put a lot into your TL, I couldn't imagine holding back when you have the type s throttle body and sport headers.
