Tranny behaving strangely?
Greetings People,
My 99TL has this issue when it changes gears. It does not do it all the time but it happens occasionally during driving. It seems it's very hard for the auto to switch gears. The car will climb to 3k-4k RPMs and then it switchs very hard into the next gear. I move back in my seat as a result of this abnormal gear change. Has anybody else experienced this or does anyone have the solution for this (without having to go to the dealer)?
Thank you,

I have not done any ATF maintenance yet. I want to wait about one month then follow the DIY steps posted in DIY section here.

Burning Brakes
I don't think this is the case because this 99TL is the 4spd auto and it has 145k miles. Most people with the tranny issue have 5 spd, right?
Are gears slipping very serious and require instant attention?

slipping means your tranny is on its way out. someone had his tranny start slipping and 50k+ later is still running ok-ish. other people have the slipping start and then complete failure within 10 miles. so you really can't predict this....take it to acura and see if they'll do anything for you, but you're out on both time and mileage so your chances are lower....

Always Working In
I was hoping that a drain and refill would fix my problem. My tranny does the same between 3rd and 4th when it is not so warm. Getting on the highway I've gotten up to 70 mph and about 4.5k rpms before it changes. I know its not good. According to owners.acura.com, the car has never been in for its tranny recall. I have 245k on my clock. I think I'm going to find some atlanta members and get some advice from members who had the same experience. At worst I know it'll be an out of pocket expense but I'm hoping it doesn't come to that. Good luck to all!
