Tips for 86,000 mile oil change on 2003 Acura TL Base
Hello I am a new member.
2003 Acura TL Non-Navigation. Bought it from the original owner with 67,000 miles and all documentation. The dealer replaced the transmission at around 53,000 miles. I've done oil and filter change twice since ownership. No oil change light, yet. Rotated the tires 1,000 miles back. Been meaning to check the air filter.
Recommendation of oil brand and filter? Anything specific I should also do to my vehicle? Any products I should add to the car with relation to its mileage?

Intermediate
You changed once every 9,500 miles? That's about 2.5x oil changes me in the span. I guess the only way to tell if you're good at those intervals is an oil analysis. I personally never follow the oil change light.
About 5 years ago, I got a 2002 Acura TL for free with 137,000km on it. It was previously maintained regularly and not driven hard but at 157,000km, the tranny blew and I swapped it out with a 2007 AV6 tranny on my own. At 209,000km now and 72,000km of my own driving, I've been using the cheapest 5w-20 oil and oil filters (Pronto) i can find and changed every 6,000-7000km and do a Honda ATF 3x3 change every 35-40,000km. Very little hard driving and probably burns about 1/2 quart every 5000km. Is it because of the cheap oil? Beats me... Just recently did a 5000km round trip drive to Florida and engine and tranny felt great. On the way back, a bad alternator and a dead battery almost left me stranded 10hrs from home but I had a spare battery with me. lol
If you plan to keep it for a long time and put some serious miles on it, then I would suggest higher quality oil like synthetic but I can't recommend anything specific besides Mobil 1 synthetic but I did not use it for the TL. Otherwise, I would go for the cheapest stuff.
You probably want to change the timing belt too if it has not been changed yet.
