Timing Belt replacement Charges
hello everybody, I just took my 02 tls in for a timing belt/waterpump, accessories belt for replacement at my local Honda Dealer. They charged $692 including tax. The Acura Dealer which is 2 hours away from where I live says it would cost $870 to do the same job as the Honda dealer and $200 more if it needed a tensioner. Does this sound right? why would Acura dealer charges more than Honda. The service advisor at honda says that the Tensioner rarely goes bad on 2nd gen tl. Anyway just thought I ask!

that service writer is wrong
we have many pics here on azine of failing tensioner to say otherwise
its less than 100 for the part and no extra labor
all the tensioners and idler/roller pullies need to be replaced if you expect the car to go trouble free another 100kmiles
or you can wait a year or so for something to fail and pay the whole labor again
acura charges more per hour, and maybe more hours too!
same for parts- same part cost more at acura
If you are getting quotes from the phone answering girl and not the actual service writer or better,,the service manager...the phone person looks in a book and get things wrong all the time
