Exclamation Stop light switch!!!!!!!!!!

My 99 3.2 needs inspecting and it will not pass unless the lower brake lights are working. I purchased new bulbs - still not working, purchased stop light switch - still not working but the part could have been a defect, has anyone had this problem

Does the 3rd brake light work ok?
You replaced the brake light fuse to be sure right?
And did the old bulbs look ok
or have you had no brake lights for a while and are just fixing it
Corrosion, bad connections bad ground! etc fall into play

You need a friends help and a 12 volt test light

Check for power at the switch
Check for power at the bulb connectors

If the third brake light works then its not the switch. you gotta check the wires from back lights.

True,
If it were the switch, he would'nt be able to shift out of park.

I had the brake light harness and it's the harness and not the brake light switch itself

Sharroll - I have the same problem - I replaced the brake light switch, but the lights (and the release for the transmission) are still not functional. You mentioned you replaced the wiring harness? How big a deal was this? Do you remember what the harness cost?

I don't remember the cost, but I think it was about $140 - $195
