SRS light is on
I have had an 03 TL since new. Recently the 'SRS' light came on and has stayed on ever since. The book says it's an issue either seat belts or air bags. Someone mentioned they heard about a recall for this issue. Can anyone confirm this?

Do a search for SRS in the problems thread and the general 2nd gen thread.... lots of posts about it. (also search and read up on the recall - it may or may not apply to you as it is associated with the side airbags)
There are several things that can trigger the srs light - low voltage (or high spike), shuffling some crap under the passenger seat, seat belt tensioners, 5 or 6 diff components associated with the SRS system. The SRS light is on = no airbags on at all. I just took mine to the dealer yesterday for the same thing - $120 later they reset the light and said it most likely was from my battery - not sure i buy it since it tested at 660 cca and steady at 13.3 volts but whateva... If you are comfortable doing so there are DIY threads on resetting the light yourself - but since i just got my tl and it only has 28,000 miles on it - i thought i'd take it to the dealer the first time - then see about the diy thread next time. good luck, |
There are instructions in the DIY thread on how to reset it. Id try resetting it and seeing if it comes back on. If it does bring it to the dealer. If not your good to go.

just take it to the dealer. SRS diag is free its covered under warranty its probably the OPDS system which is covered till 150K
