Side airbag light after wet seat.

Side airbag light after wet seat.
I accidentally left my window cracked overnight and it rained, leaving my seat wet when I left for work today. I got it up best I could w a towel then headed to work. Side airbag light came on and stayed on all day now and it normally is off w no one riding with me. Anyone have any ideas?? I don't have a passenger often but when I do, if something were to happen I'd like them not to die because of a sensor malfunction. Thanks in advance for your help.

I'd suggest unplugging the seats plugs, and trying to dry them out (or until the seat dries on it's own). Then unplug the negative battery cable on the car and reset all the systems.
Technically, with water...like without touching a ground with a positive wire, the worst case scenario is that you shorted a fuse for your SRS system. Check your fuses while you're at it.
Good luck,
J.

With your window only slightly cracked open, was there still a fair amount of water laying on the seat bottom ?
Check #1 (15A) and #2 (10A) fuses located in the driver's side interior fuse box.
If one is blown, ya may want to do as Rockstar 143 suggested....basically just trying to dry everything out with maybe a hairdryer, or electrical contact cleaner spray within the connectors. It's not like anything was totally submersed, more like a few residual drops of water ?
There's a " SRS reset procedure" in the DIY sticky. This will clear a random temporary trouble code and with some luck.....get the system back to normal.

Unplug the seat, take it out and use a fan to dry the seat out (if its still wet under the leather) Make sure all connections are dry. After every thing is dry plug everything back in and see if the light comes back on.
And as for not wanting your passenger to die Its only the side airbag that is shut off, not the front. If your SRS light was on then NONE of your airbags would work.
