Replacing Rear Rotors

I dunno about anybody else but i can't get the damn rotor off. I tried heat, tapping it with a hammer, I looked in the hole to loosen up the drum, but couldn't find the star adjuster. Did anyone else have this problem and how did you fix it.

Did you remove the two srews? Then you can use two bolts (don't know the MM size, search board for it) in the holes to force the rotor apart. If you don't plan on keeping the rotor you can just hammer it evenly on the face untill it becomes free. Just be carefull.

The thing is i have aftermarket rotors on the back and they don't come with the threads to jack the rotor off. Unless you are talking about putting the 2 bolts where the screws came from.

OIC, so you plan on keeping them. Well, spray as much wd-40 between the rotor and use a rubber mallet.

Believe me i tried that, it didn't work. It is rusted on there good. I'll just have to take it to a mechanic to get it off i guess.

Do you have your parking brake on when you try to remove the rotor? That might be holding it. A rubber mallet helps.

You may need to remove the rubber piece on the hub part of the rotor and turn the star wheel to loosen the parking brake slightly. Turn the rotorso that the hole is at the bottom and look in there with a flash light, you will see it (looks like a spur for a cowboy boot) turn it a few turns and retry untill it comes loose

I wasn't keeping my old rotors so I just beat the crap out of them with a hammer. 2 good whacks and it came right off. I spread anti-seize all over the hub to prevent that.

I have new rotors for the back, I don't plan on keeping them. So basically whack the hell out of them till they come off? I'll try that and let you guys know how it goes.

Thumbs up Rear Brake Replacement or any Brake Replacement

Just a short note maybe everyone knows this...but don't put to much anti-seize on or around your brakes as it gets very warm in there and you don't want anti-seize dripping on your brakes. All things have to come to a stop. Thanks all great site.
