Replacing Driver Seat on 00 TL

Have a '00 TL with 237k. Driver seat is badly worn. Purchased used '00 driver seat to replace old one. Took old one out. There were two (2) wired connections. One bundle was encased in black plastic sheath with a grey rectangular connector, the other in a yellow plastic sheath. Replacement seat apparently only has one connection to accommodate the black sheathed wired bundle. Not sure what to do with the yellow sheath. Did not fully install replacement seat until I could figure out proper method to connect. Any clues?

the yellow connector is the side airbag. maybe the seats you purchased were out of a 99 which didn't have side airbags.

If thats the case, your best bet might be to swap just the seat covers and/or foam.

Im guessing your SRS warning light would have a field day if you left the airbag harness disconnected.

I agree with the above. It sounds like you got a 99 seat which doesnt have the side airbag.

Unfortunately you cant just swap the covers and foam. The back rest cover of the new seat doesnt have the side airbag accommodation. Can you return it from where ever you purchased it?

Just noticed you are a fellow Cheese Head

I've got 99 seats on my 2000 I just swapped the leather onto mine. The 99s did not have side airbags so they won't connect. There is a easy way to tell look at the side of its 2000 or newer it will say srs if it's a 99 it will be smooth

'00 TL Drivers seat replacement

Thanks to those who responded. It appears I do have a '99 seat instead of a '00. Can't return it so I'll have to think about options.

Stephen, you mean you just switched the seats or took the '99 cushions and fit them on the '00 seat frame?

I took the leather and bottom seat cushion from the 99 and put it on my 00 tl I left the top/back because it's hard to wear that out and I didn't have to do anything about the side airbags
