Replace fender?

I bought a car on Ebay that turned out to have damage to the left front fender. Dented in two places. Dent Wizard can't fix either of them. The body shops say that it is fixable, but it's a decent amount of labor. I'm thinking the labor and material comes to over $300-$400 to fix both dents. The fender will pretty much have to be completely repainted. I am unsure of the exact cost since other repairs are on the estimate.

I have the opportunity to pick up a new primed left fender for just about $110. Is it a fair amount of labor to take off the current fender and install the new one? In other words, do you think the cost of the fender plus the labor to install and paint it will pretty much come to what it would have cost me to just have the current one repaired?

The other question would be, is it possibly a DIY job to replace the fender? I could do that work to save a few bucks, but then they would have to paint it mounted on the car, which I'm thinking they would rather paint it before they put it on the car, correct?

I only got an $800 settlement from the seller to fix the issues. There's about $1300 worth of damage so I'm trying to be creative to get the cost down.

the will want to paint it on the car. they will most likely have to blend the paint into other panels to make it match. Installing the fender yourself would be easy.

If it's an easy DIY job then I'm assuming they won't charge me much for labor to install either?
