Rear passenger door locked itself and can't be opened
Has anyone had this problem and if so, what was the fix.
Access to the lock system is not an easy chore as the door panel fixtures are behind the door posts. the dealer will not give an estimate to fix.
Maybe it is a latent defect.
Help will be appreciated.

Unfortunately there probably isnt an easy fix. If it is the actuator or lock the door panel has to be removed to access them. Doing so is hard with the door closed.

Well.. you need to open the front door and unbolt the four bolts that hold the rear door in place at middle of the car. Dont need to remove completly all the bolts... just loosen them a little and try to move the door...it will open easyly.
Then i removed the door panel... Removed the plastic cover carefully to put back later... Then i removed the two metal stem..(one for the door opener and one for the lock/unlock knob) Then I unbolt and took out the door actuator. And this was really hard to take it out from the door frame. After couple minutes of trying to understand how its works...I just follow the lock/unlock knob and find out that there was a moving part which was covered of rust. With a lot of lubricant and grease...I forced the two parts to move... AND THATS ITS....
Problem fixed without any additional COST. Only 1 hour of DO IT YOUR SELF

I had to make a slim jim from a thin piece of metal I got at Home Depot to open the door. I took the panel off (so I could what I needed to do) the other rear door that would open and praticed on it till I could do it pretty easily. My issue was the external handle would not work and I had the child lock enable so the handle inside was disabled. I tried the loosen bolt thing mentioned previosly ans that did not work for me. Does the door unlock? If it does not them this may not help.
