Rear mirror problem

The fluid inside the mirror is caustic and it can damage both plastic and leather. And it's probably not a good idea to inhale the fumes.
So you'll want to remove it or at least wrap it up in something.

The mirror manufacturer, Magna Donnelly, used to replace these for free but they stopped doing that a couple of years ago. You can buy one for about $100. If you remove and/or replace it yourself, be very careful not to crack your windshield.
