Radio Code doesn't work

Who here knows how to fix this? I'd changed my battery yesterday and it won't come up. I keep entering the right code over and over. When parked and driving with no luck. Is the right code, the code from the white label. I've used it before and it worked. I've tried everything. What else can I do to fix this, all I get is error1, erro2, erro3, etc...

how many miles do you have? Take it to the dealer, warranty's rock

LacViet Aug 15, 2006 01:39 AM

If you are sure of the code is correct, then it's pretty easy to reset it. Now, if you are still within the warranty and/or the dealer agree to do it for free, then bring it to the dealer; otherwise, do the following:
On your driver seat, Take out the side trim piece (the one with fake wood material runs along the radio to the arm rest) by just peels it out (to the left) then pull out.
Remove 4 screws that attached to the lower side plastic trim and remove the plastic trim out.
Get your hand behind the radio deck and remove the antena cable (the only cable right at the conner of the radio deck)
Enter the radio code. It should working if you have correct code.
Re plug back the antena cable
Re attach the lower plastic trim with 4 screws, and re attach the fake wood trim side piece.

No warranty. I have 74K miles. I will try the antenna removal tonight. Why wouldn't it work without removing the antena as it done in the past? What is the 1+6 or 3+6 trick im hearing about as well?

AMGala Aug 15, 2006 08:29 AM

the continuous error message happened to me a couple of times when i had to re-enter my code. I just kept entering the code until it finally took. You may want to just try that before trying to remove the antenna.

From the dealer, they told me it's the static things that somehow won't allow the anti-theft module to accept the new code. My radio acts the same thing before. Work like a charm the first time, but will not work the second time. I have to remove the radio antena to make it work.

I tried it before, but after 10 tried with 10 errors, the radio won't accept any more code. I had to remove the radio fuse and start the process over again multiple times but none working.

AltecBX Aug 16, 2006 08:41 AM

YES. Removing the antena and then putting the code worked. For anybody out there with this same problem, this method worked. Thanks LacViet.

AltecBX Aug 16, 2006 08:28 PM

Today my battery negative connector went loose and I had to remove the panel again to reset the radio. Is there anyway to get the radio back to normal with the 5 digits code without the antena trick?

junitodx Aug 21, 2006 12:09 PM

Thanks LacViet, the antenna method you posted worked to a T. I got the error code about 9 times. Did what you suggested step by step and presto, radio code took prefectly.

You are very welcome!

AltecBX Aug 22, 2006 07:34 AM

Saved me $90 from Dealer even though it was kind of tight getting to the antenna.

fyamin Aug 31, 2006 08:56 PM

I took the trims out, but its so tight in there that I can't get my fingers around the black cable in the corner. I have the navigation I think that is why there is less room.

I may be able to take it about 20hrs of 0.0001" turns but putting it back would be a nightmare.

Any ideas?

LacViet Aug 31, 2006 10:08 PM

did you take both of the trim panels off? it's a little tight, but not THAT tight unless you have big hand. Have someone with small hand might help. Good luck.

fyamin Sep 1, 2006 12:02 AM

Yeah, the 6cd indash changer doesn't leave any room in there, I took out side panel. The other option is to try to take radio out, I tried that but gave up on the center counsel :(

I will try again later.

fyamin Sep 1, 2006 12:03 AM

One questoin, the antenna cable is a twist (threaded) or I can just pull on it.

fyamin Sep 3, 2006 08:27 PM

Well, I gave up on the antenna thing, put it back together- tried 10 times - left it on to reset.

Then tried two more times left it over night.

Next morning, truned the key, just before ignition to where the test lights come on - and tried the code again and it worked this time

It happened the same way to me once before, where I had to just keep trying and it work again in the same key position.

Thanks guys

had this problem very recently and fixed it w/out the antennae trick as i didn't want to take my car apart for fear of breaking something.

Try this (even though it's very boring): Drive around for about 30 min / 1hr with the radio / cd player unit turned off. then, while you're driving (or have a friend do it), push the volume knob to turn the unit on and then enter your code. Should work on your first try.

good luck to those who don't like the ant. trick.

i recently changed the battery and the navigation needs codes. Can anyone help me out?

nyctl Oct 2, 2006 04:57 PM

not for nothing but after a few error codes i finally realized that the code must be inputted when the car is in PARK and NOT in DRIVE.......

TlsNavi03 Jan 29, 2007 04:14 PM

I know this thread is a couple months old, but I had to say thanks to Lacviet also..

I had this issue this weekend, and the antenna did the job. Tunes are back.

Thanks!!!!

djmato Jan 31, 2007 09:51 PM

Hi,

How do I take out the antenna? Is it from the back of the radio? Can you please be a little more specific? I used the ' 1 and 6 ' method and get the code, but somehow it just doesn't work like what you guys had. I think the antenna method is the only way I can try now. Please help. Appreciated.

SwampGas Jan 31, 2007 10:18 PM

IIRC, it uses a motorola style antenna connector so it pulls straight out and pushes straight in.

I wish someone at acura would release the technical details. Sounds like a logic ground/chassis ground problem or stray RF is coming in from the antenna.

If you or a previous owner of your car ever had work done at the dealership the radio and navi code will be on there. Thats where i got mine.

djmato Feb 3, 2007 10:54 PM

Thanks LacViet. It works.

HCHO2000 Feb 11, 2007 09:41 PM

Great Thread!

Thanks to LacViet and the others in this thread for describing the antenna disconnect trick and for sharing their experiences.

I just used that method to get the code to work in an OEM 6-disc radio that I just installed.

Ok people i have tryed everything u have suggested to people to fix the code problem and no luck. I called the acura and they want me to come in and there might be a charge to fix it, it seems like the car dosent want to take the code and its right i check. It seems like it has lost the code in the radio it self and have to call them. But i have to wait getting new parts and then i might have to reset the car again so im going to have the code problem again....O ya I hate ACURA now
:annoyed:

As an update, I disconnected my battery again after replacing my ignition switch and this time I did not need to use the antenna connector trick. The radio accepted the security code on the first try.

I thought that was curious.

mzahidi Feb 4, 2008 06:58 PM

head unit keeps on cycling to the code menu
and then when i enter my valid code, the radio blinks err 1, then the next attempt gives me err2...so on so forth till ERRE...
, my fuse had shorted out not kool

mzahidi Feb 4, 2008 07:49 PM

yep you guys are my response to the acura dealer saying "oh yea its 65$ labor charge"

remove the stupid antenna and the ipod assc unit if you got one...then enter the code , radio will work.
turn off car and then put all assc's back on, start car, check functionality , then put everything back :)

patrol Feb 12, 2008 10:48 PM

ram3ez Mar 7, 2008 04:04 PM

I just did it by feel. The antenna cable connector goes directly into the back of the radio. If you're facing the radio, the connector is on the lower left side of the radio's back panel.

damn I CANNOT get my hands behind that radio without pulling it out. 2 screws on the side and the other 4 i think on each side, it would pull but not come out so am I missing any screws that need to be taken out?
