Prospective TL Buyer!! Need Help ASAP Please.

Im thinking about buying a 2002 Acura TLS tommorrow from an auction that sells consigned cars. It has 128,000 KM (In Canada). My dad had a 1999 Acura TL, and it always gave him problems with the sensors, which led him to sell it for a Nissan.

I was just wondering, is the transmission problem really that serious and does it affect pretty much every TL. I want to purchase a low-maintenance vehicle, would a TL be out of line? As well, what's Acura Canada's policy on the transmission and do they replace broken transmissions, even if they're out of warranty?

thanks

If you really need a fast answer, try doing a search. This topic has been discussed to death. There's also a sticky thread about this.

Answers are; Yes, No, Yes, 7yr/100,00 miles, No

I don't know what percentage of TLs are affected.. but u'll find a lot of post here from people who have had the problem.

I just baught my 2002 TL a week a go, 84000km on it and 5 days later had to replace the transmission. The transmission warranty in Canada was extended to 7 years/160000km.

From what i've read here, i would not want to own this car without the warranty.
I will sell it by the time i hit 150000km.
