P0700 + P1738 two years after transmission rebuilt

Hi all,

I am noticing the CEL blinking 10x on start. Other than that, not noticing any other issues.

Codes show:
P0700 - Automatic Transmission Control System
P1738 - 2nd clutch pressure switch

The transmission was rebuilt almost two years ago. It is under warranty [4yr/50,000 miles]. I plan on calling the shop. Since I no longer live near the shop, I wanted to ask here if this is something that could be minor and will be less time and gas/toll money to check it out myself? Does this seem like something that the shop could fix in an hour if I brought it down there? Or is it likely a drop off for the week and I am looking at uber and checking train schedules to get back home. Obviously no one can say for sure based on the little info I provided, but was hoping for a little insight. Plus, I haven't bugged anyone here in quite some time... which reminds me is that Milwaukee Dave guy still around here

P0700 means that there are one or more A/T DTC, unrelated to fuel or emissions control systems.

As for troubleshooting, grab a multimeter and try this:

* Check voltage of 2nd clutch pressure switch (blu/blk wire, female terminal). Should get battery voltage. If not -> broken wire between PCM and 2nd clutch pressure switch.
* Check resistance of 2nd clutch pressure switch (male terminal).

Chances are you need a new pressure switch. I don't have a '99 so I don't know exactly where it is, but it appears to be on the top of the trans. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

2nd pressure switch is located on top of the tans closes to the center of the car (single solenoid not the double).

Time to change the ATF if you haven't already.
