Other than oil leaks, can broken valve cover bolts hurt my car?

While doing a valve adjustment about three months ago on my 01 type s, I broke 2 valve cover bolts off putting the rear cover back on. After trying a needle nose pliers, vice grips, and flathead screwdriver I put some silicone underneath the rubber part of the broken bolts and stuck them back into the cover. I needed to get my car back together and did not have access to a drill or extractor set. I have been keeping a close eye on them and so far no oil has leaked out of the siliconed bolt places or any part of the valve cover. If these siliconed bolt heads continue to keep oil from leaking, is there any other reason to try to get these broken bolts drilled out as far as performance or reliability of the car? I understand I will have to periodically put a fresh coat of silicone on the bolts but that obviously is no big deal. Thanks a lot for any thoughts on this

I would most definitely get the bolts fixed. It can cause leaks and debris to get in ruining your motor/valves. Oil can also leak into your spark plug holes and cause issues with your coil packs.

I was afraid it wouldn't be that easy. My mechanic said it would probably take at least three hours ($70/hr) to get back there and try to get them out. Don't want to try it myself because I don't use a drill that much and might get some shavings in there if i screw up.

but u have friends that have drills, just cover the head with a rag or paper towel, some tape to hold it in place, and a vacuum.
