Newb air filter and tranny fluid question
yes I nkow this may be a ra-tard question, but is there a DIY on changing the engine air filter on a 99 TL?
as for the tranny, I have seen the pic on where to fill the tranny fluid, but can someone give a written description of where I can find that bolt?
thanks for helping a ra-tard

the ATF fill bolt is on the top center of trans- open hood and look down
it will have either a large bolt with ATF stamped on it (post 05 warranty replaced trans)
Or there will be the external oil jet kit- a small oil line run to the atf filler bolt hole and funky looking thing in the filler hole- held on with 1 small bolt- remove it and pull assembly up to remove from filler hole
try the DIY section for pics and more info

air filter- remove the 4 bolt/screws from cover- may have to loosen hose clamps,
lift cover and grab old filter- ck for leaves in box and remove- install new filter- tighten bolts gently or you break one off and have a real problem

I've never seen a DIY, but it's veryyyyy simple. Just locate the air box and unbolt/unclip the cover and remove the filter.
For the trans fill bolt, stand on the driver side, just about where the wheel is. Look into the engine bay, about a foot down from the top, you'll see a big bolt with ATF stamped on it. You can't miss it, seriously.

The engine air filter is under the hood on driver side, two screws and you can lift up the airbox cover on the screws side and slightly pull away from the opposite side of the screws.
If you don't feel comfortable removing the aft bolt or the two injet bolts, refilling through the dipstick tube is okay; it takes just 10 extra minutes to refill 3qrts since the tube is small and it takes time to not spill it.

Always Working In
I wouldn't want to fill any fluids through any dip tube. Just too frustrating to me. The ATF bolt's the better way. 17mm bolt by the way and a new crush washer is recommended. The air filter is pretty straightforward.

cars on the original or pre 05 replacement trans will have the oil jet kit where the ATF bolt goes
ok to remove the bolt securing it and pull straight up to remove unit for filling atf
