Is my Transmission going bad???? shaky but shifts smooth
hello, im new here and recently fell in love with my tl type s and want to keep it for as long as i can, well basically i bought this car at an auction so i didnt get to drive it, so im driving in d5 and and it seems to shake right before it shifts from 2nd to 3rd i think, it sometimes does it in the next gear.
well when i drive it using sport shift it drives perfect in all gears, never shakes with sport shift.
Im still kind of a newb to the TL V6 and not sure how to aproach this, could it be just the mounts but if it is why doesnt it do it with sport shift, same thing with thinking if the tranny is bad
could it just use a tune up i did install a cold air intake
or the pressure sensors
if anyone has experienced this or could help me out i would really appreciate it
thanks in advanced

standard answer- ck fluid level, read threads to learn correct method
ck fluid smell and color
send sample to blackstone labs
When using SS are you at higher rpm or harder on throttle than in D5?
ck a spark plug for age, they are due at 105 and early is suggested by those who have done theirs anywhere after 60
front and rear motor mounts are fluid filled- ck those carefully and passenger side mount--

well i think for the most part on d5 it shift around 3k so i try to do it around the same to test it out but for sure its smoother the higher rpms i go
im going to change the spark plugs and mounts, would accelarating and holding down the brake method work for these mounts
ill look on this forum to see how to check the flliud, ive read that redline atf or something similar could work better
anybody personally experience it

Always Working In
I hope some trans people step in on this one.
I think the ecu operates the clutches differently when in SS or D4/D5. Ive noticed softer shifts in D4 vs. SS in my 99. Makes sense they give you a sportier feel in SS.
Trans folks - can we get some input?
