Leaking oil from somewhere above the oil pan
Hey guys,
As the title says, my 99 TL is leaking from somewhere above the oil pan.
I had knocked my pan loose two weeks back, so this past weekend I jacked the car up, drained oil etc, pulled the pan off (thanks by the way to the posters in the oil pan thread - that gave me a ton of info on how to pull that thing) and re-did the gasket.
Since doing that, it's no longer leaking from the edges of the pan.
I took the car off the jacks and rolled it out of the garage to let it run for a few minutes without suffocating myself. About 30 seconds after the car started, a small stream of oil started coming out from somewhere above the oil pan - it looked like it was coming from somewhere in between the oil filter and the corner of the pan near there, but higher up. I didn't have a chance to take a good picture or jack the car back up to look closer, but I touched the corner of the pan where it was leaking last time and it's dry there now.
I'm planning on heading back out to the garage this weekend to take a look at that. Any idea on what it could be?
I'll grab a pic from the manual to mark exactly where the oil looks like its dropping from, relative to the pan.
Thanks in advance for any possible advice guys.

Here I've drawn out where the Oil seems to be leaking from. It's coming from the area labeled (A)
It might be coming from the oil filter I think, but I got it on pretty tight and the stream of oil didn't look like it was "bending" the way I expect it would be if it was leaking off of there. Please do correct me if I'm wrong on that though.
Some extra info: it only leaked after starting, about 30 seconds after ignition. As soon as the car is off it stops leaking.

Sorry to keep posting in my own thread like this I hope it's okay for the forum rules, but I'm thinking "out loud" and having a nicely organized format like this works well for me. Maybe it'll help someone later.
I've been doing some reading and looking at diagrams, it looks like the leak might be coming from the oil pump. That sounds like it'd fit the timing of the oil leak as well. Gonna peruse my manual and see how the fix for that looks. Maybe it's a bad seal somewhere on there?

Oil leak
I think you have it right.my 2000 with 195k miles is doing the same thing...sad news is I had the timing belt all apart and did not realize I was right there at the oil pump...it's not hard to get there, just an all day job and only cost effective to do it yourself IMO

Yeah, I spent all of Sunday and half of Saturday trying to get that crankshaft pulley off but it just wouldn't budge - broke two of my 19mm sockets trying. A ton of PB, a six foot pipe attached to the breaker bar, the "starter bump" method, and a brand new impact wrench (only rated to 240lb) did nothing to it whatsoever. Guess 18 years does something to that bolt threading lol.
As I was cleaning the garage up for the night however I noticed that the VTEC solenoid body had a crack in the gasket. I'm gonna pick up a new gasket and see if that does the trick this weekend - I'm really hoping I'll be able to drive my car out of the garage this coming Sunday hahaha.

Drove my baby back home on Sunday!
Turns out the leak was from the VTEC solenoid gasket, so I didn't have to pull the crankshaft pulley at all - thank goodness!
Grabbed a new gasket from the Honda dealership for like $15, spent some time cleaning everything off, and put everything back together - not a drop leaked! (Not counting rear main seal leak - that's an older issue)
So, if anyone looks up similar symptoms - CHECK THE VTEC SOLENOID GASKET FIRST! It takes 5 minutes to pull the old one out and slap a new one in, so please don't make the mistake I did and have to re-attach the oil pan four whole times.
On the plus side of things I definitely know how to redo oil pan gaskets now,....
