Are K&N Filters suppose to be thinner?

I just installed K&N Air Filter and it is the same size and fits like a glove except it is not as thick as the one being replaced. Is this normal?

Its flowing more air in better airflow pattern and also had those 4 holes to put the screws thru- no other filter even bothers to make the seal that tight

Clean it spring and fall for best effect

Thanks

I noticed the filter for the 03 TL has the holes (model # 33-2133) but the one for the 03 TL Type-S does not (model #33-2178).

Since I need the Type-S, I guess mine doesn't need the one with the holes?
