J32A2 - low idle revs with B-series TB

Greetings, comrades. My current J32A2 motor has always been fitted with a 70 mil Skunk2 B-series throttle body (with the P2R idle control valve adapter) from the moment I installed it into my car. And since I've had it, I've always experienced idle issues, particularly when the engine is cold. First off, I've never seen a decent warm up idle speed (which is supposed to be around 1200 revs or something, am I right? Mine is about 700-800). Second, until it warms up, the engine would often hunt for revs at idle. Third - the revs go way down when the A/C is on at idle, to the point where the A/C compressor would intermittently switch on and off over and over again (and the car would shake). Is this a normal situation with an aftermarket throttle body? Could it be that the P2R adapter plate doesn't allow for enough air flow through the control valve at idle? Or is there something wrong with my motor, like an air leak or something?

it sounds like a vacuum leak to me. I've heard that others have a difficult time mounting the IAC valve's gasket (seal); perhaps start there?

I doubt it's that. The P2R adapter kit includes a billet plate for attaching the IACV, which you route two hoses from - one to the intake manifold, the other to the intake tube before the throttle. I put some sealant in between the plate and the IACV, there shouldn't be any leaks there. Though I didn't fit any clamps to the hoses, so potentially there might be some slight leaking in that area.

Finally fixed the issue. Turns out the fittings which P2R supplied with their B to J throttle body adapter kit were too small, as a result the engine wasn't getting enough air at idle. New fittings with a larger bore brought my revs pretty much to where they're supposed to be,

ran into same issue with p2r b series tb adapter. this seems to be a design defect not an install fault. the slot that
the iac is supposed to breath through is at least 3 times bigger than the little hole that they added a fitting to on the plate. idle was able to be stabilized by pulling off another small vacuum hose to allow more air into the intake. i will be experimenting with a vacuum plenum to try to find a more permanent solution. the so called adapter bracket is another design fail. it is basically a stock bracket with a widened slot. for the cost of the p2r adapter, this is ridiculous.

Realized I never came back to share my fix.

Ended up purchasing larger screw in fitting (as suggested above), which helped a little. But, with the AC on the car was occasionally stalling coming to a stop.

I then bored out the fittings with a drill bit to open the passages more.

There is also a small adjustment screw on my B series 74mm throttle body. It's about one turn open.

Hi. Sounds like about the same thing I did. My car idles perfectly. About the size of the slots on the IACV itself - they do narrow down to much smaller holes in the throttle body. Still, I agree with you that P2R didn't do a good job with the adapter, though when I brought it up in an e-mail exchange with them - I was told that it varies from car to car, and that some cars don't respond well to the larger bore fittings. That sounds a bit odd, but whatever.
