How do I remove/disassemble the rear view mirror (with onstar)?
My problem is the rear view mirror makes a loud buzz when my stereo is cranked due to vibration (I have a powerful aftermarket stereo). It just seems like the mirror itself absorbs the majority of the bass. If I just reach up and touch the mirror when it's buzzing, it seems to dampen it enough, so I think I need to remove the rear view mirror, disassemble it, and put some sort of insulation in it.
My problem is that I don't even know how to remove the mirror. It seems fragile and I can't find any instructions anywhere on how to remove it. It has what appears to be a circular series of clips, but a firm tug doesn't seem to have any effect. I'm wondering if a special too may be required?
If anyone knows the best way to pull it apart, that would help too, because I'm a little nervous about just grabbing a flathead screwdriver and trying to pry it apart.
Thanks in advance for the help.
