As the title states, I've been getting a consistent high-pitched humming/whining noise. Originally I thought it was my power steering, but after listening to it closer it seems as if its definitely coming from the engine - lower left side possibly. The sound heightens and lowers as I accelerate or rev in neutral. Sometimes the noise isn't there on startup, sometimes it is. Transmission was replaced 25k miles ago, don't think it has anything to do with that - been shifting/running fine.


Thoughts? Oil pump maybe?

Mine did alot of Noise while it was going bad, Replaced by a Goodyear one been fine for over 60K

spend 5 bucks on a mechanics stethascope
put end tip on suspect bearings or other areas
touch to main solid section of ac belt tensioner- not the moving parts
listen for smooth rythmic= good or gravel = bad

Left as in the driver's side? Make sure the intake/air filter box is sealed properly.
