driver side low-beam went out and dealer says $600+ to replace "inverter unit", p/n 33109-s0k-a02, on '02 TL.... can't figure out what this is.... what is "igniter", "ballast", "control unit assembly", "inverter",...."ballast igniter" vs. "ballast computer".... which are separate parts, which are equivalent names, and what makes up a "unit".... so confusing for a simple item...thanks

Do a forum search for "ballast" and "inverter" and you'll find a ton of threads.

There are three parts that make up your light:
Bulb, Ballast aka control unit assy, and igniter.

I think dealers usually sell the Ballast and Igniter together and call it an inverter.

hey man I have the same problem you do. We need to buy Inverter (Ballast/Igniter). The dealer charges around $500.00 and you can buy it on http://www.acuraoemparts.com for around $400.00.

However this guy is selling 2 sets on ebay:

check black market

just swap the parts from the good side to the bad side..to see which part is actually going bad. Then check on ebay or the black market here for your parts. I've been fixing my car for some time now...best thing to do is not panic and rush to buy things from the dealership if you want to save money. Invest in the Helms manual. good luck

I picked up a set from the black market for a good price and I found set locally. easy swap too, no way in hell would I pay that kind of money for how easy it was to do.
