Fuel light on alot
Fuel light on alot
Hey Peoples, I was recently laid of and times are tough right now. My question is, since I do not have that much extra money to always fill up the tank, I find the fuel light on a lot and the car usually touches E before I fill it up, can this hurt my car in anyway if I keep letting the gas get that low? Thanks!
Other than the fuel pump needing the fuel to cool down the pump, I wouldn't think it'd create any other problems. I am not sure how it would affect the fuel pump if the fuel is too low. Hope someone can shed some light there.
Sorry to hear....... I think you'll get mixed responses on this issue.
Personally, I don't an issue. However, some schools of thought will say that you'll be dragging crap from the bottom of the tank through your fuel system. Then again, that's what a fuel filter is for......
SO.... personally, don't worry about it......fill it when you can..........
Cheers....Hope things pick up soon for you.

hope you find a job soon even if it is only part time
but normally the fuel filter is AFTER the pump, so the crad still goes through the pump itself,
and btw the filter is suppose to be a "lifetime" filter on our cars and not serviceable (cause it is in the tank itself), but you can buy it seperate from the pump itself at acura though
yeah the pump will run hotter do to less fuel in the tank itself, but that should basically be the extent of your problem with it being limited to the fuel pump and such,
but they are pretty durable pumps, especially compared to domestics, so i would not worry about it too much and just get by living for the time being
