front headlamp burned out

so my left HID bulb went out last week. took it to a local honda dealership to get it fixed, and they quoted me $340.32 for 2 parts:

HID BULB 159.86
BULB (D2R) 154.52

I was hoping you guys could give me some insight on what those two parts are (assuming bulb/ballast), and if I had any cheaper after market options. Is it always required to replace both parts at once?

Also, the inside of my headlights are very foggy/hazy. I did a search that reveals it could be due to condensation?

Thanks!

ok- you have the combo problem
the moisture inside the lens drips out a hole on the bottem and onto the ballast-
-a non-waterproof item which controls electricity = corrosion inside circuit board
Its happening to many of us now

you can reseal the headlights or get replacements on ebay

for the bulbs- get a full kit with 2 new ballast, 2 ignitor wires and 2, D2R bulbs for under 100 bucks,,,good stuff too!
hidextra and hidconcepts are members here and have online stores
ck internet for coupon codes!!

the dealer hasnt looked into it to see the ballast is fried, so they quoted 2 bulbs
and that was just the bulbs they quoted- not the labor included
1000 would be the final bill

with the kit, its waterproof ballast and no worries
you will have to cut off the OE connector and install 2 spade connectors, if you can do that- you can do the job

was there a pink tint to the light on startup recently- thats natural bulb death symptoms
sudden death is usually ballast related

Maybe- need to inspect the ballasts. See https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...llast+inverter

Better to solder inline splices. More reliable and will last longer in that environment. Stagger them to reduce chances of shorts.

thanks so much for the responses!

well there wasn't any pink tint or gradual fade/flickering. One day it just wasn't working.

so are these parts correct? I'd like to order them as soon as possible

should I replace the right side as well? or is there a quick fix to make sure condensation doesn't mess it up?

quick fix is to add silicone seal over the existing seal and hope for the best
Otherwise a heat gun or the oven is needed to melt seal glue and seperate
clean and install new sealant

try this place- hidextra, I paid more for this exact kit recently-
now its on mega sale (~50$-buy a kit now just for spare!)
http://www.hidextra.com/cart.php?osC...31f69f1b5dc7bd
This kit comes with a male spade/flat blade connector on the power leads
You can install females on the car wires, or your preferred solid connector and cover them.
