Engine Missing
Engine Missing
I just went through the broken wire on the knock sensor deal. So I had everything apart. I replaced two injector and did seal kits on the others. Now I just got it back together and it runs like crap. I hear a ticking sound. Like a stuck lifter on older cars. The ticking sounds like it is coming from the injectors. Could it be one of the injectors? Also the "check engine" light came on again. This is why I tore it down to start with. The code said knock sensor and the wire was broken. Help!!
tick....tickety...tick !

Hey Geedub, are ya getting the same code as before ? Did ya clear the code after performing the work ? If it's back again, and wasn't ticking before.....than ya may have to go back in and re-check all of your work again ! "Bummer" !!
OK Here's the deal. I cleared all the codes and some came back. I had several injectors leaking. So I tore it back down to the Knock sensor. Put a new one in and put it all back together. Used the old original seals on the rail side hoping they would work better than the new ones. It took me 3hrs to do all this. Afer all the times i've done it now I can do it in my sleep. Well it runs great and no leaks no codes on the first test drive. But on the next drive one of the injectors is leaking again. It seems to be slowing down, maybe it will dry up and seal. I am getting really frusterated.
You got to lube the O rings with oil so they don't tear apart while your installing them into the fuel rail. Once they tear, even a little, they are garbage. make sure the fuel rail is seated properly so the bolts go in easy, it take some pressure to seat the assembly, but you will know when it is.
i would NEVER reuse an oring on a critical part,, thats part of a high pressure zero leaks allowed system..especially after a few attempts of it being removed from torque and retightened-possibly without new lube - asking for trouble
Everything has a torque spec too
