Clunk in steering wheel

So when I am returning from a turn mostly, but a few time when starting a turn, I feel and hear a clunk in the steering wheel. I could be wrong but it doesn't sound/feel like something coming up the steering but in the wheel itself in the cabin, pretty sure, but can't tell 100%.
I can't reproduce it, seems completely random on when it happens.

Anybody have suggestions on where to start? Any known problems?
Thanks

Check the column upper and lower covers behind steering wheel for signs of rubbing on the plastic.
Theres also a rubber vibration damper device inside the steering wheel that may have broken off but the airbag will need to be removed.

If all checks out ok then then the problem is elsewhere.. tie rods inner outter

Recheck your steering and suspension components. It could possibly be a worn bushing, BJ, tie rod, end link, ....etc. Did this just start happening ? Any recent mods or work ? Does it occur when the car's not moving also ? When turning, is it more apparent in one direction or both ?

Check the lower steering column and the shaft's joint above the rack's gearbox.

When we had our MDX we had more of a "click" in the steering wheel. Dealer diagnosed as a mis aligned u-joint in the steering column. Not sure if this is the same or applicable but am passing along.

Thanks everyone, I just wasn't sure where to start. Nothing has changed recently. not sure if it happens when parked or driving only, what would that tell me?
Seems to happen both ways. Seems pretty random, try to move wheel back and forth and it won't do it but when I'm just driving it will lol.
Car is having tons of minor issues happen all at once, looks like I have lots of diagnostics to do.

ps fluid look like its been changed in the last 100,000 miles?
start at one end of the car and work up,,look at suspension and non-obvious points like sway bar end links broken
see any signs of metal to metal parts contact = shiny spot

steering shaft bushing/bearing?
and the ever popular cv joint failure- slight motion of the car required to make it go click click, with steering turned max finds it fast
