Getting Check engine light on my 2000 3.2 TL


plugged up a scanner (loaner from parts store) and it read

MANUFACTURER CONTOL AUX EMISSION CONTOL


I'm thinking this might be P1491, but their scanner wouldn't give numbers.


I cleared the code so I can see if it comes back again.

might be a EGR valve...


car is running ok, with no running rough etc..


any ideas or suggestions?

Sounds like a fuel vapor emissions system problem. You should check the lines to the fuel vapor canister and the related components for leaks.

 

Might be the gas cap. Make sure you tightened the gas cap more than 3 clicks.

 

That too, forgot about the gas cap being part of the vapor emission system.

 

yeah.... I was wondering if it was the gas cap.

I went and tightened it and it was ok... but hard to tell sometimes with these that 'click'


I reset the code to see if it was a "one time thing" or will happen again. I've cranked it 3 times since the reset and no light yet.


I'll check the vapor lines as stated above.
