CEL / TCS on and engine revs in park/neutral
Hi I have a 2003 3.2 TL whose vin is not in range of the tranny warranty.
Yesterday I noticed my TL started revving up and down in park and neutral. But still seemed to be driving okay, no problem shifting or anything.
This morning it was doing the same thing but about 5 minutes into my morning commute, the CEL and the TCS light came on.
Sitting at a light, I put it into neutral, it revved as expected and even stalled. I restarted the engine and then it was idling fine. The light turned green and shortly after getting started the car lurched a bit but after that was fine. The rest of my commute was fine but the CEL and TCS lights stayed on.
Dropped it off at the mechanic nearby and he is saying he is having a tough time getting diagnostics to communicate. He said it seems to be communicating in bursts. He thought that he got a code indicating a bad MAP sensor during a short period of time that it was communicating.
So that's where we are at this moment. Anyone have any ideas?

Yeah I read that thread. Seems to me that the problem with the idling would have been more gradual if the IACV was just gradually getting clogged. The revving just all of a sudden started happening.
The guy on the thread about the IACV did indicate that the CEL and TCS were on but his idling was just rough, not revving...

You know actually I take that back. I did notice a few weeks ago that the car was revving high right after I started it. So I guess I have noticed problems with the idling before now.
I called the mechanic and told him to look into cleaning the IACV for me.

It wouldnt be progressive. Most times it "just" starts, and goes away only to come back later.
