Battery Dying!

A/C Compressor blew 10 days ago. Next day battery which was 5 yrs old was completely dead. Let local shop do repair of A/C compressor and the battery was replaced as well.ten days later the new battery was completley dead after the car was sitting for 2 days. Car was jumped battery and alternator were fine. Came back from vacation this past Friday and the car was completley dead. Brought car to Acura dealer and the dealer said the repair was done incorrectly. Even if that is true, why did the battery originally die? They said the compressor is draining the battery even when the car is and swithc are off. Can this be a problem with the A/C switch? Help!

car needs to be driven 45 minutes after a jump start condition to fully recharge the battery,,just jumping and driving a short distance wont do the job--
so a few days later its not going to have any charge

New parts can fail- a batt cell may be defective = parts warranty
whats the load test show?-free test at parts store

dealer says work done wrong--did they offer an explanation further than that, or quote price to repair it?
Or tell you its warranty on the other shop-which is true
back to the ac shop for you!

Do not have the load test results with me. However, the battery was fine. Acura hooked up the car to their machines for 2 days and the battery and alternator were fine. I am very weary about going back to the A/C shop. Bad idea to get into bed with them in the first place. Dealer suggested to redo the original repair, but I don't think that will fix the issue. Dealer says compressor is draining battery when the car is off?

Put your multimeter (selected to current mode, make certain it's capable of measuring at least 1 amp) in series with one side of the battery & measure the draw w/ everything off, including interior lights. Use caution, observe polarity, wear safety glasses, no smoking, etc. around batteries. Then disconnect the compressor & compare. Don't try to start it or use anything electrical while you have the meter connected.

Seems like I remember somebody had a batt. drain problem & it was a bad diode in the alternator causing it. Might try disconnecting the alternator too while you have the meter connected.

jumping the TL, or any high electronics car, CAN result in a blown alternator diode
more common than you hear- except stories of the battery died, jumped and drove it home and a week later the alt quit,,,hmmmm coincidence?? I think not

may not do it the first time it happens,,but a few jumps and the alt working full blast overtime to charge a dead battery,,, instead of its real job of ~slightly working~ to maintain a battery full charge voltage/amps..can put the major hurt on it

test for current draw as totald instructed- whats the car discharging while parked?
always a little- clock etc use tiny amount overnight
but a short in the system will show up
