AV6 Wont Shift Please Help!!

After installing today everything went perfect changed everything required went for my first drive and it won't shift out of first gear then d5 starts to blink. I've adjusted to range switch 4 times now and still nothing changed. I dont think its the trans because it was tested good. Some advice would be helpful thanks.

No I didn't know we were supposed to. Wouldnt that be bad for the new trans since the tl was defected?

Check for codes, Since D5 is blinking there is a code that may give a clue to whats going on.

How was the trans tested? If you got it from a salvage yard, it most likely came out of an un-driveable car. The only thing I swapped when I did my daughter's 00 tl was the range switch, to avoid re-pinning the connector. I don't remember if there are any connections you could inadvertently switch, but if you are sure you're installation is correct, it might be time to involve a transmission shop. Skip the dealer, and any franchise operations, and try to find an independent shop with a good reputation. Ask around. If friends and family can't recommend anyone, ask at auto parts stores, especially ones that sell to garages. Typically places like Napa and Car-quest deal with professionals, as opposed to places like O'reilly's, Pep boys, etc.

I purchased the tranny last week from LKQ they told me it operated well with 60k. We did everything correct I just pulled a Code which is P0720 Output Transmission Speed Sensor I'm going to try changing that out hopefully everything will be smooth if not I definitely give your advice a shot Thanks

Check the wiring on the top of the trans for the speed sensor, if all checks out ok then replace the sensor. You can use the sensor from the old trans.

There is no need to swap any TL tranny sensors unless you find a bad one on the AV6. I followed the step by step AV6 swap guide from here word for word and it worked for me.

The connector on the main shaft sensor on the AV6 was cracked so I swapped that one out just in case. I got mine from LQK Quebec with 73,000kms on it. Worked great for me!

Tranny fluid smelled totally fine, reddish brown and screen filters were clean as a whistle. Well, my TL tranny with 160,000kms was the same thing and it crapped out on me. There is a chance it could be the torque converter but I'm not going to 'test' out my theory doing this job again.
