Anyone heard of a tranny feeling like its dropping into OD?

This is kind of hard to explain but I'm wondering if there is any possible hope for fixing this odd quality my tranny has. It sort of in a way drops into overdrive as in when the RPM needle drops from the shift you can see it bounce once or twice about 250 above normal cruising RPM for whatever speed I'm in. You can feel it as well. Only does it in overdrive. IF you give it gas to shift back to 4th then let off a little again it will just do the same and drop back in instead of just a normal shift with no fluctuation in RPM's Maybe is there any kind of additive I can throw in with my next tranny flush? Any leads would be helpful.

NO FLUSH!! Drain and fill. Your tranny might be going out if its fluctuating RPM at a constant speed. On my last 2000 TL I would set cruise at 60mph on a leveled interstate and the rpms used to jump 200-300 rpm for no reason every 5-10min and then go back down, you felt it in the cabin also. 6 months later shuddering occured then toast!

By doing a complete flsuh on the tranny im 100% sure, its going to die rite after you do it.

3x3 drain and fills and then you should have a better gauge of what is going on if it still happens.

If you do a flush some of the chemicals they use are not friendly or do not interact well with the Honda Transmissions and metals, causing failure to occur earlier. Can someone chime on this? I am sure I have read it posted in our forums somewhere.

When is the trans (mph) shifting into 5th that this is happening? Does it happen at 70 to (like if you were to get it to go to 4th then back to 5th?)

Just to clarify I haven't ever flushed it, just drain and fill, also its a 4 speed 99 ORIGINAL Tranny with about 145k on it. It runs like a champ besides this little hiccup in OD. Its been like this since I've had it which is going on 2 years. This happens on any speed over about 50. High speeds of course up to 90 I can recall, don't do over 90 that often. But to answer your question it does to it at 70 when I do exactly as you describe.

Is a slight shutter between first and second on normal take off a sign as well? It seems to be fine under hard acceleration.

the 4 speed has a lockup torque converter. iF your going at a consistent speed at a a high enough speed the torrque conveter will lockup.dropping rpm slightly but you wil ldefinently tell when it locks up. its said to save a bit on gas when it locks up.

in the manual it tells you that yo uwill feel a slight shudder when it locks up.nothing to be worried about.
