AC/Heater blower works. Barely any air from vents. Any suggestions?

My blower motor recently stopped working a few days ago. Couldn't wait it out as it's been freezing here in this NY winter. So I went to my local autozone to purchase a blower motor. I installed it with some slight modification for wires and plastic/rubber hose connection from the original motor to the new autozone aftermarket motor. Got everything in place and connected. I then turn on the heat to full blast and the new motor kicked in like a champ but noticed that barely any air was coming from the vents. I rechecked my installation and didn't see anything loose. As I've stated before I did have to do some small modification to the rubber/plastic hose and got it to connect without crimping the hose. Turned it back on to full blast and still barely any air coming from vents. I'm now somewhat confused as to what the issue could be. Any suggestions out there as to what I could have possibly done wrong or forgot to do:confused?

It's probably spinning backwards. Try reversing the wire connections, even if the colors match up. I've been down this path before, and I think someone else on this forum ran into this recently.

before you worked on it- there was correct vent operation?

often when blower stops its really the power connector failure- for it
That can destroy the resistor for the fan motor too

@TLer trash that scenario crossed my mind but didn't put to much though into it. But now that you mention it, that could very well be a possibility. I will switch the wiring and see the results.

@01tl4tl there was correct vent operation prior to new installation. I will try to switch the wiring around as TLer trash mentioned and post the results.

^^It's not the quickest or most cost effective way to learn, but you do tend to remember better. I also forgot that our blower motors don't come with with a pigtail. That style would be more likely than ours to be wired incorrectly.

Hi. I have the same problem with a brand new aftermarket blower motor from Napa auto parts. It will work if I reverse the wires? Or I can damage the blower motor.... Let me know. Thanks a lot

So yesterday i took TLer trash advice and switch the wiring around and what do you know, hot blowing air out of the vents. Simple fix and money saver.

@TLer trash thanks for the advice.

@Guayaco90 go ahead and simply switch the wires. I'm pretty sure if you are experiencing the same problem that very well might be the solution.
