A gentleman I work with has a 99 tl automatic and the car runs and drives great but when you turn the key over you will hear a click come from underneath the shifter and that's how you know the car will start, if you don't hear that click when the key turns on then it just sits there and cranks over with no fire. Also when you do hear the click and know it's going to start if you hit the brake pedal it will make that sane click under the shifter, if it doesn't click when you turn the key over and you hit the brake pedal it won't click then either and wont fire. Could this be the shift solinoids or detent or does anybody have any idea what so ever??

Brake switch under brake pedal. Work on and off. Pull out and clean. To proof if is that it someone can stay behind to see if brake lights come on. Had same problem except it didn't rotate at don't start than didn't rotate at all.
