Disregard the 6 voltage reading at the B/W wire. Instead just test the starter. The 6V is not enough info to determine which part is defective.
Assuming your battery is good.
1. Make sure the car is in Park.
2. Disconnect the B/W wire from the starter solenoid post. Run a hot wire straight from the battery to the starter solenoid post (tapping to crank the starter). If the starter doesn't crank then the starter is defective... Replace the starter.
If the starter cranks the you have a bad connection from the battery. Find the bad connection.

Did you hot wire the starter as noted in #2 above? If not please do so because that will confirm that the starter works and the starter has a good ground. There's no point in moving on until you can confirm those two things.
The reading of the 6v you got before, was the wire still connected to the starter or was it disconnected from the starter when you got the 6 volts?
