2000 TL, will a 99 tl transmission fit?

I don't wanna make the story long, but I have a 2000 TL, with a bad motor and tranny. I ordered a motor and tranny from a salvage yard, supposedly from a 2000. I got them, and they looked a hair different. Called the guy, they are from a 99. From what I looked at, the motor looked like it would work, but the tranny has a different wire harness. Is there any way to get the motor and tranny to work in my car?

Thanks in advance.

What's the salvage yard's policy for sending you the wrong parts?

He was in another state and shipped it to me. He claimed they were from a 2000, but they were from a 99. He isn't really taking responsibility for sending the wrong part. I have a claim open with paypal right now though. I think I can get the motor to work tho. I just have to sell this tranny and buy another.

The tough thing about selling the transmission is that you'll have to sell it "as is" since you don't really know if it's a good part. If you don't do that, you'llhave an angry buyer if they install it and find that it's defective.

Yea, I'll have to do that. this situation sucks. Do I have to get my whole transmission rebuilt if only reverse is messed up? It won't go in reverse. (The original tranny that came in my car)

^ you dont have to but you would be stupid not to.

As for the engine it will be hard to get it to work properly. It also depends on whats screwed up with yours. You will need to swap heads(cams at bare minimum), intake(upper and lower) Fuel rails/injectors and possibly a few other parts

They will BS you to the end.
I bought a complete 6mt swap from a salvage yard, they did not send me the engine mount set up and the dampener, called them they started to BS me.
Called the automobile recyclers association lodged a complaint.
Guess what?
They refunded $400.

Isn't 99 the last year that the TL was a 4 speed auto? I think 2000 was the first year for the 5 speed auto.
