Exclamation 2001 TL Transmission Problems. Won't move, just revs as if in neutral

At 50,000 my 2001 acura 3.2TL had the transmission rebuilt by the dealer because of the extended warranty and the normal problems our transmissions are having, It now has 83,000 and rarely slips but is quite hesitant on shifting. It threw a check engine code P1768 which means faulty automatic tranmission clutch pressure solenoid A, I looked at all data and it told me step by step how to fix the problem. I took off soeloid A and B from atop the transmission, took out the three flow valves(which one was clogged with dirt) and cleaned them. Tested each solenoid with a 9V batteryt like it said and they both worked fine. I put everything back just the way it was. When i started my car and put it in gear it would just rev. It would not go anywhere. It reverses fine and it idles, as in it strolls forwards too, but when i give it gas it goes nowwhere and just rev's. What could I have possible done wrong while cleaning out those valves? What could I have messed up? Also, my TCS, Check Engine Light, and D5(flashing) light came on. But the last thing I did when cleaning the valves is plug my battery back in so the codes were reset and the computer recognizes it within 1 second of reseting my computer and turning on my car. So I figured it must be an electrical problem. Could it be the computer? Any help here would be awesome because I have been baffled by this for a few days.

Its probably one of the solenoids. And usually cleaning them doesnt solve the problem Sounds like the trans may be on its way out. You may want to talk to the dealer (leave out the you cleaned parts part) and tell them it failed again. See if they can good will a new trans.

Emphasis on not saying a word about cleaning the solenoids.

Not quite, thats my problem, I just bought it about 8 months ago and it had a previous salvage title. Catch is the title itself looks normal and is an original title but in the carfax it says it was salvaged. Apperently under CA state law you can reverse a salvage title if it passes rigurous inspections. So being previously salvaged drops all warranty coverage. And yes I know I am a dumb*** for not checking the carfax before buying it.

Also I took the soeloid off and measured the ohms and it read exactly 5 ohms like it was suppose to. And like I said I hooked it up to a 9V battery like told to and both of the solenoids moved fine and not sluggish or slow in any way. Thats why I figured it would have to be the computer. Maybe when messing with the soeloids I somehow sent some voltage back into the computer and shorted it out. I know it sounds far fetched but there is not a lot of explanation for this.

call acura at 1-800-382-2238 x5 and ask if they show the car has a clean title and carries the extended warranty--dont say anything else
tell them you are looking to buy it
If they dont show it salvage then its not~

effin carfax- worthless paper is what that is
A decent tech can look over a car you want and tell you more about it than any report

It helps in discussions like this --where a warranty is normally involved- to state up front that its salvage title. Then we can address a fix rather than 10 people saying take it to the dealer

the selenoid that was really dirty- try replacing that one first, cleaning parts seems to mess them up- if its dirty put a new one on

Do everything fsttyms says -he is our resident TL guru and high mileage TL champion with over 250,000 miles and going- plus has rebuilt a TL trans himself

fyi- acura dealers dont rebuild the transmission- they replace them whole
acura has a shop(s) that does does the rebuilds from a massive pile of returned units

When-the date- was the trans replaced??
Double check if the trans was actually replaced or if it was just the oil jet kit recall done.
If they did the trans replacement before the change to internal oiler kit (approx 2005?), you may still be eligble for some help.
If the 2004 issued recall was not done, acura still covers the recall, part of it says if boroscope inspection shows heat damage to 2nd gear- thats a free trans replacement- salvage title or not~

look for blue heads on the trans bolts, thats a replacement trans
check on top of trans for the large ATF fill bolt, if its hose going into the bolt, thats the oil kit

acura also still covers the SRS and seatbelt warranty extensions on salvage cars
call the 800 number and see what their records say
Just say the trans is acting funny and wont shift, is there any warranty coverage
Act stupid- let them read from their book. That person only answers phones, not a real acura manager but they can have one call you back if needed

you can register here too C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Favorites\Acura - Registration.url

Try replacing the Solenoids you tested and cleaned. I doubt its the ECU, My guess is its either a sensor issue or a trans issue.

Well I found some warrantied ECU's for about $100, of course used, but I am going to try replacing that before I put $250 into the solenoids. Because when I tested the solenoids they seemed to be working fine and for the computer to pick up the same P1768 code not even 2 seconds after I erase it means there must be a big electrical problems there. The ECU should be here tomorrow so I will keep an update. And thanks for the help and advice I appreciate it.

You wont be able to start the car. The ECU is where the Immobilizer is. You will have to have a dealer reprogram the key and it to work.
